Vortec Cam sending 7V to cam input? too high?

Post by rithsleeper »

I'm really having trouble finding clear documentation on the Vortec Cam sensor wiring.

I have found one reference in a google image search that says A=grnd, B=Signal, C=Voltage. Then I found another one that says the wiring was A=12V, B=Grnd, C=Sensor... I found one reference that the Vortec cam sensor takes a 8V signal? Right now I have it wired A=grnd, B=Signal (cam input), C=12V. I am getting 7V on the signal wire when the cam sensor is triggered, and 0.5v when it is not being triggered.

Will this damage the ECU? Since it is a square wave can I just adjust my pots to compensate? Should I be swapping the Signal and 12V? Should I supply the voltage with the 5Vref instead of straight 12V?

Thank you for your help.

The cam input should be good for +100V or so.
