First start problems

This has been killing me for 2 weeks. I have a microsquirt with ms2/extra 3.4.1 on a 24x 5.3. It is a completely stock motor. Right now it will sort of start with the throttle at 10% ish, sometime it chugs along a little, usually it doesn't. Now that all the timing is removed it is not as kicking back but i am on my 3rd starter.
I have checked everything except the timing, i dont have a timing gun. But how is a LSX be off. I started with a sloppy tune and change the variables that i knew were different. but i am good d*** lost. any help would be very appreciated.

Get a timing light. Checking timing is essential.

The LS timing does vary between engines.
