1/3 scale V10 on MS3 !

Post by jsmcortina »

Somewhat old news, but I've only just seen the video. Same guy that did the scale V8 on MS2.

Jaw droppingly amazing machine work.

Unequaled finish and quality. Amazing indeed.
I don't quite 'get' his nervous throttle fumbling of the engine.

Is it only me that is wondering if this V10 video is a fake? The 50cc V8 clearly looked like it had been built from scratch, but this V10 has too much detail to be easily believable. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but am saying not everything you see on the internet is true...

Click the link in the video description to see the build process. That's not fake (and it seems some thought the V8 video was fake).

His build thread is online with all the in-process photos.

No doubt its real, and is remarkable.
I'm wondering at the low rpm's he's running it? (4500?)
As well, (and this is just me) but if you were going to go to the trouble to develop and build such a remarkable power plant, why not scale it towards a project where it might be actually used. As example, large enough for a motorbike or small cart?

Does it actually have a cooling system?

With both the V8, and now the V10, running on Megasquirt, did he actually make injectors??

The build pictures show a single injector in the intake plenum. But I haven't read the details.

Had a gander at Keith's build thread - I'm embarrassed to observe that his tooling is all analog. No CNC rigging to make all those bits but just a lot of hard work, and talent. I'm going to have to step up my machined bits to a higher level I can see, no excuses (other than I have no time  )
