Open collector or built-in pull-up?

Post by gearheads »

Hi, this is my first post and I hope someone can help me out. I´m finishing the assembly of my MS2 V3.0 board and I need to add a cam sensor input as my Ford Focus 2.0 16V Duratec HE engine has COPs but I can´t figure out whether the gear tooth sensor is open collector or has a built-in pull-up. The meter shows an open circuit between all three pins. The part number is 6M8G-12K073-BA. I also need to find out what each pin is supposed to be and how to test the sensor. Thank you guys.

Assuming you were using an ohmmeter, open circuit between all three pins indicates an open-collector.

The OEM wiring schematic should indicate which pin is which.

I did use an ohmmeter so I have an open-collector cam sensor. Good, I can complete the board soldering. What I can´t find anywhere is the wiring schematic or the sensor pinout. Thank you.
