How to Boost dome control with air compressor ?

Post by Motoren »

Hi, I'm in the process of buying a ms3pro ultimate for my 2jzgte engine. I'm using a blitz boost controller at the moment but would like to get the ms3 to control it instead.

I would like to use dome control so I can run a really low pressure spring. But I don't really want a co2 bottle in my trunk that I have to refill now and then. And I would like to use a 12 position trim pot for different boost levels.

Can I use an air compressors that normally are used to fill air in tires ? Or how can I set if up.

If I don't want to go the dome control way, then how much can I adjust my boost pressure from base spring rate ?

Best regards

The key is that your pressure source will need relatively consistent pressure and significantly more than target boost; it can be compressed air just as easily as CO2. You can adjust boost levels with the boost table blending feature.

how much can I raise the pressure from spring rate if I just go the normal route ?

The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine told me that he once messed around with an ms2 and he was only able to raise his pressure around 0.4bar from spring pressure.

With the blitz controller I can go from spring pressure of 0.9 bar to more than 2.0bara pressure.

Rule of thumb is that standard boost control with turbo outlet pressure can approximately double the wastegate spring pressure.

No one using Viair or some similar air compressor for dome control ?

Just wondering if it's worth going dome control over normal control of the wastegate?

I can see the main difference is that you can run a really soft spring and still being able to run a high boostpressure.

I know a guy using a viar setup and happy with some control results

I'm tempted to run dome control with like a 2 gallon tank only for drag racing and just top it off between rounds

Why not just install the small compressor and use it all the time?

Not really sure. Trying to keep weight down, but could use it as ballast this next coming year. It with it being a drag car mostly refilling between rounds is no big deal, especially if you regulator 70psi off a 120psi tank
