Hi, I have a somewhat unique situation. Before buying the hardware and software though, I'd love to get some input on the feasibility.
I have a mechanical Cummins diesel that I am swapping into a truck. I would like to monitor quite a few parameters within the engine, but would like to avoid running a whole bunch of gauges.
My idea is to run a Megasquirt ECM that would really just monitor the inputs and output that data to an Android tablet using a product such as Shadow Dash. Below is the data I wish to monitor.
Fuel Pressure (0-20 psi)
Oil Pressure (0-100 psi)
Boost (0-100 psi)
Drive Pressure (0-100 psi)
EGT (0-1500 degrees)
Trans Temp (0-300 degrees)
Coolant Temp (0-300 degrees)
Tachometer
Speedo (using the Android GPS)
Fuel Level
Voltage (0-15 volts)
Would a megasquirt be able to monitor all of these inputs? It's just a daily driver/tow pig, so I don't need split second updates, just a general idea of what's going on within the driveline.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
How many inputs can a MS monitor?

Re: How many inputs can a MS monitor?
yes it's possible with a ms3.
I think you'll be fine with the number of inputs on a ms3 but this setup will be expensive only for a data logging module.
I'm not aware of other options that meet everything but maybe there is something else cheaper.
I created the Perfect Tuning Universal gauge but there are only 3 inputs so not enough for your application: http://perfecttuning.net/en/22-gauge
Or maybe another solution would be the IDash from 14point7: https://www.14point7.com/products/idash

Perhaps for something very DIY, consider one of the IO-extenders from JBperf ?

Re: How many inputs can a MS monitor?
I really like your gauge setup! But needing 2 or 3 takes the expense beyond what I'd like to spend for this project.Suprazz wrote:yes it's possible with a ms3.

But this iDash! Thanks so much for the link! This seems perfect!
