Coyote on gen 1 ms3pro dyno session with andy whittle and st

Post by jsimmons »

I would like to thank andy whittle for the help today and steve (sorry dont know his last name) for letting me/us use his dynapak dyno today. After fighting some rpm sync issues between the dyno and my car we got it the best we could (within 50-100 rpm) and it was repeatable within a few hp. The large stall the converter the car has in the car was likely the culprit here but never the less we were able to pick up about 6 hp across the entire rpm range and extend the rev limit 300 rpm or so. The last 300 rpm of range we gained showed 80+hp from previous runs where hp was dropping like a rock.

Tuning is not completely finished yet as we barely started playing with vvt before we had to call it quits. We came out with a peak hp of 473 give or take a hp or two. Not bad for a mostly stock 302 cid coyote. This engine is stock other than a cobrajet intake and throttlebody a eletric water pump and it runs on methanol.

All in all i was pleasently surprised that i was able to get the tune as close as i did with only track tuning. While there is no doubt a little hp to be found still in the tune and some of the driveablility apsects of it are far from perfect, this is also the first car ive ever tried to tune and with a little bit of motivation and studying anyone can do this stuff. Agaon i cant thank andy and steve enough for all their help today. You guys rock!
