Accelerometer input for vibration analysis?

Post by TheMonkey »

Searched didn’t see discussion yet.

Playing around with an app on iPhone to measure vibrations. It sees them all with amplitude, frequency on all 3 axis. Super sensitive.

Some sluething can diagnose what’s out of balance, just need to match rpms of diff components and then figure first or second order vibes.

There’s an app that will do all the calcs and sleuthing NVH vibration analysis but it’s $400.

I did it manually with free vibration app, My issue is keeping speed steady and noted so sample can be matched with rpms. And hand calculate.

Mine was wheel out of balance and I would have SWORN they were good, I would have bet driveline.

But.... why not put an accelerometer into ms3 box or wired in with nvh type analysis tied into ms interface? Possible? I imagine. Just thought I’d throw it out there, I’m not sure I’m the guy to figure out how to make it happen, but thought I’d share the idea.
