Issues calibrating water temp sensor

Post by Lason »

OK I dont know what Im doing wrong but Im running MS2 3.0 board with MSExtra on it.

Im attempting to calibrate my water temp sensor to use my existing autometer sensor. I found these resistance figures for my sensor straight from autometer but everytime I try to plug them in it still sits at 180* with a stone cold engine and no water in it yet. Then when I go back to the calbration screen the default vaules are there instead of mine. What gives???

Here are the values I got from Autometer and Im using 100*, 212* and 340* in the calibration screen. The sensor isnt designed to read under 100* from what I have read up.

Temperature/Resistance
100 1123
120 708
140 460
150 374
190 175
210 123
212 119
220 105
230 89
250 65
280 42
300 32
320 25
340 20

Are you sharing the sensor with the gauge, or did you remove the gauge? If you left the gauge in place, what did you find for its bias resistor value?

Im sorry Matt, Im not an expert in electrical. What do you mean what is the bias?

Yes they are sharing the sensor though.

Figured it out, I took off the wire going to the gauge so only the MS was hooked up to the sensor and it was correct (-2* from air temp anyway) so the gauge must have been throwing it off. I guess Ill have to run a second water temp sensor just for the MS
