custom.ini won't save

Questions specific to Megatune. (Only about the tuning software, not about MS1/MS2 code or code features)
Note that Megatune is obsolete.

custom.ini won't save

Post by oneway7072 »

So I'm running MS1 with 029y4 firmware. I'm also using megatune 2.25.

I'm trying to change the x,y,z limits for auto tune, but when I go to save windows ask: custom.ini allready exsists, do you want to replace? I click on yes and it gives me an "Acess Denied". I'm in my project folder which is the one that should be changed. What am I doing wrong? I left the notepad open and ran megatune and it ran the changes I made, but just won't save the custom.ini in the project folder.

Thanks Bill

My Guess is you are on either Windows 7 or Vista. Normal users do not have access to edit files under program files and as MegaTune hasn't been updated in better than 7 years, it doesn't comply with the security of the modern OS's.

If you are editing it directly, then you only have the rights that the application was started with, normal user rights.
A couple work arounds on Windows 7:
- Start your text editor as Administrator by pressing the Shift key and right clicking on the icon you use to start your text editor.
or
- edit the file elsewhere on your computer, then copy it to your project. If you have administrator rights, the OS will prompt you for approval to over-write the file with Administrator rights.
