i have a question...
if my trigger angle and the phasing is all messed up...will the car start?
i am not really sure if i did the steps correct but it starts...i am just trying to find an explanation to why it behaves that way....starts for 2 seconds and then dies?
if i disconnect the 5v pin it starts and starts popping out the exhaust, knocking and doing all sorts of crazy things..like its cross firing??? could it be that

Why pull a face at Lance? He is trying to help.
In any distributor install the phasing and trigger angle must be fairly close for the engine to start.
Have you installed your wiring exactly to the HEI7 instructions?
Have you wired your board exactly the same?
Is your distributor set so that at approx 10BTDC the VR sensor aligns with a tooth or spike. Is the rotor arm pointing to the coil tower?

thanks for the help guys...
i didnt mean to pull faces at anyone...i am just expressing the way i feel towards the problem
as this thread as gotten too long just like you said let me give you a brief over view of my problem...
i was running fuel only with everything set up right...and i wanteed to switch to spark. did the board mods on the extra web page to run a 7 pin module as the car originally ran a 4 pin.conected the wires and set the distributor at 10.the car starts for 2 seconds and then dies on me...thats witht the 5v refrence connected. if i disconnect it then it runs very badly..i would say its crossfiring.i am not sure if i did the phasing step correctly or not. i came acroos the link i provided where the man was switching to a single 7 pin module rather then running a dual 4 pin set up
http://www.mez.co.uk/ms9.html
i was going to copy his phasing steps and then i remembered it said to set the crank at 10 not 28...i think my phasing is not correct...thats my guess. i tried to contact the person but he never answered.....
what do you guys think my problem is...i checked to see if my wiring is correct..the 5v wire provides 5v when the engine starts and i tried 2 modules...same thing.i couldnt get data logs when the car was running without the 5v connected with one of the module...now i can...
help guys.....please...its been 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!
