1968 Ford Cortina / Rover V8

Post by jsmcortina »

Name: James Murray
Vehicle: 1968 Ford Cortina II estate
Engine: Rover 3.9 V8. 9.35:1 Real Steel cam
Injection: Offenhauser 360 deg manifold home converted to port injection with own rails and Vauxhall injectors. Custom throttle body from pair of Sierra throttles.
Description: I've been running the car with the Rover V8 since 1999 and with 150hp of nitrous and a Holley 390 it ran 12.8 1/4 mile. Cold start and town driving were pretty poor. EFI fired up fuel only on Extra 024s8 using the wheel decoder as a tach input. Within the week I had the car on the track and running normal numbers (14.3/97 no nitrous, 13.2/103 with an empty bottle.)
Update: Now runs coil packs for wasted spark ignition driven direct from the MS using VB921 IGBTs and Extra code 025i6. Have wet manifold nitrous control and launch control running.
Update2: Added a second stage of nitrous using "Output2" with an rpm limit. Added more fuel by bumping up the VE values above that rpm and taking out timing. New best 1/4 mile ET 12.33 @ 110mph

Been a very long time since any updates and I thought I'd bring this over to MSEXTRA.

I continued running with MS1 029y4 until October 2009. In the end I had two stages of nitrous controlled by Megasquirt and was using launch and flat shift.
Car ran great and on a very good day dipped into the elevens with 11.93 @ 114. Best terminal 117.5

I'm now running MS3 on the car and have only done a little drag testing.

Soon I'll be adding the MS3X board and converting the wiring to V8 sequential fuel, but likely keeping wasted spark for the moment.

Hello.
I see in your post that you repair and upgrade megasquirt kits.
I bought a megasquirt II pcb 3.0 kit from DIY a couple of years ago and have been driving this with the
edis 6 setup in my 240z with l28et.
Since there are no serious megasquirt mod suppliers here in Norway,i have to look for help somewere
else.
Would like to upgrade from the edis 6 to either 6 single coils,or 3 doble in wasted spark.

Is there anyway we can work out a deal on this?
