New to Forum & Looking for Guidance

Post by depulse »

I own a 94 Miata 1.8L and i am looking for a standalone EMS.

I believe the MSPNP will replace the stock system, but don't know about all the pieces.

My plans are to stay N/A with ITBs and a built engine. I have a header and exhaust. I have all the part to go COP and would like to get sequential ignition. I have read the forums and it starts to get fuzzy as the the threads drift. I can get some benefit now by adding an EMS which can handle the sequential ignition. I would like to get a system that will take me to the end game.

What system would work the best? MSII or MSIII?

Any suggestions?

The MSPNP can work for this, but doesn't have the parts needed for sequential ignition or injection as it is MS1 based. You can get both of these out of a DIYPNP, however, if you feel like building your own. The DIYPNP is pretty easy to set up for sequential injection; we have a drop in module for this and the first car we tested it on was a '95 Miata.

Matt,

I have read about the MAF delete and converting to a GM IAT sensor. What is the benefit of the delete? Would this delete hinder the installation of ITBs?

Did you say sequential injectors could be done along with the sequential ignition?

Does the DIY kit allow for a direct wideband O2 input?

Stock MAFs are pretty restrictive on first gen Miatas.

Removing the MAF generally makes ITB installation easier.

The DIYPNP can do this. The MSPNP cannot.

You will need an external controller.

Matt,

Couple of more questions?

Where does the IAT usually get located? Thinking ITBs is my end game, there are two options aluminum or steel bungs.

With a wideband controller ( LC-1 ), can it be read and displayed through the firmware?

Pricing on a kit? With injector addin card, the IAT kit, and any other accessories which would beneficial?

Best way to contact your company for the pricing?

On ITB'd cars you can just locate it wherever you'd like near the intake air stream.

With the LC1 the wideband O2 signal will go directly into the MS and it will allow it to be read/displayed/logged.

We generally favor putting it in the air cleaner or velocity stacks.

Yes.

The main item is the DIYPNPN76-K kit, price is $425. Other items you may need:

DP_SEQMOD-K $38 Sequential upgrade kit
PNP_IAT-A $29 IAT sensor kit
StimPower $7.50 Power supply for bench testing (intended for North American plugs, 110V - I'm not sure where you live)
TuneCable6 $5.50 tuning cable
USB-2920 $20 USB adapter (if needed)
Best way to contact your company for the pricing?
We can be emailed at websales@diyautotune.com, or you can take the above list and order it through our online catalog.

Matt,

Can the USB and SD card reader be added on to your kit?

Would it be able to handle water injection?

I live in Arizona.

Just use the USB-2920 to add USB.

An SD card reader? Nothing for that is available at the moment. You'd have to build some sort of device that takes the serial or CAN feed and records it; I'm not aware of anything on the market now that does this.

On/off water injection is no problem. The code has no provisions for PWM water injection though.

Matt

The USB port and SD port were added to the MS3 system. Can this be added to your kit? I used the wrong terminolgy, Sorry!

Is anything like the speed density available if you use the IAT? I don't know if I asked that right.

You can't make an MS3 out of a DIYPNP. We are planning on other components to help those who want to make a PNP device out of an MS3 that incorporate some parts from a DIYPNP and some new items.
