MS2/Extra alpha 3.0.3t released

Post by racingmini_mtl »

This is a bug fix that concerns only sequential injection. The bug allowed the code to re-schedule an injection pulse for the same channel in the same engine cycle (or rev in semi-sequential) under certain circumstances and this for one or more channels. This could produce an overly rich mixture and in the worse case could duplicate the pulse entirely.

This is now fixed. It is recommended that all those who were using sequential or semi-sequential injection update to the new code. Those not using sequential/semi-sequential don't need to update as the rest of the code is untouched.

The code is available here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/fil ... 100413.zip (MOD EDIT)
or hosted on Jean's site here.

The signature is still 303s. Just a note.
This code can't be compile as usual anymore. It spits out errors and cease to compile.
Are the changes you made differs from what you have here in the zip?

That's the ini format which hasn't changed. The code signature is 3.0.3t.
Gokart wrote:This code can't be compile as usual anymore. It spits out errors and cease to compile.
Well, I do compile it the same as I've ever done so it's likely your setup that is not as it should. But posting the error message would be more helpful than saying it spits out an error.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean. The release is the zip and contains every changes.

I don't really understand that. I tried with an older zipped file (303s) and it compile fine.
When I use this zip, it have errors. Not using cygwin causes this?
Here is the snapshot.

I use cygwin and, to make sure, I just used the content of the zip file without any issue. There must be something in the DOS makefile that is different from the cygwin makefile. The DOS makefile has not been well maintained since none of the developers use it.

As was mentioned before, use cygwin and you won't have problems.

I am running this now.
I am not sure what type of wheels are more or less affected.

But let me say this now. It has transformed EVERYTHING on the car.
The car will actually idle at 17:1 now lol
cruising is smoother. cold start and running is much better.

And low an behold all the bitching i did some weeks/months back are now voided. My EAE now works, and amazingly so.

My setup is the Subaru 6/7
but anyone running sequential should run this..

If you are a badly affected person whoever, get ready to retune a lot of your VE map..

Looking forward to installing this, this weekend.

Can I ask the specifics of what's changed? I'm hopeful this will solve a very strange issue I have where AFR's will suddenly flatline at a particular MAP/RPM, it's impossible to tune out and is 100% not a hardware (i.e. faulty WB/Injectors etc) issue.

I also get an irritating stumble sometimes when lifting off the accellerator, which I've been unable to tune out

TPSretard's experiences seem surprising, but here's hoping I get a similar improvement!

Keep up the great work guys!

I was getting that one too. Sometimes 2-3 times a day, sometimes not for an entire week. It looks like a rich stumble, only the commanded pulsewidth didn't change hence it didn't seem like a tuning issue - more like a slight cylinder misfire.

4G63 seems to be a wheel mode easily affected by the bug so it should help. And the bug was causing an additional injection pulse on one or more injector channels so the result will always be an overly rich situation. The conditions under which the bug was happening are different for all setups (RPM, load, timing) but will be consistent on the same engine.

I don't want to go into too many details but let's just say that before it was possible schedule a new injection pulse in the same engine cycle but now there has to be an injection on the other channels before injecting again.

I should have some time this weekend to try this out. Man, you guys have the same issues I had as well..esp the stumble on letting off the gas. Hmm..maybe I should get out there now and mess around with it lol..

Has anyone successfully loaded the 3.0.3.t code already ?
I am not sure if it is 'code related', my computer or me but I get this:
Capture.PNG
Every time I try to calibrate the thermistor tables, afr tables or pressure sensor settings. Also the pressure sensor page is loaded with BS:
Capture2.PNG
I even tried to start a new project with the correct ini... Same thing.

Never mind, I think I solved it.
I deleted my shortcut for Tunerstudio on accident and when I created a new one, I forgot the 'run as administrator'.
Sorry, I thought this error could have been related to the ini in the new code.

Eeek.. not good - I think that has something to do with the fix that Phil and I were working on. I'll let him know.

Thank you.
I just found out that it has probably nothing to do with the missing 'run as admin' settings, as the error just occurred again...

I just loaded the T code just fine..I used my desktop's true serial port though to load the code(i always do this-to avoid any usb to serial issues), and Tunerstudio worked just fine using the included ini file and burning the msq from 303s.

Took it for a short test drive. At last, I must say it's fixed! The stumble when letting off the gas is totally gone, and it seems Acell enrich works much better too. Without even touching my settings on anything(load code, msq and go) AE is not as rich and dont get a stumble on acel or decel. Nice! I'm now 100% issue free with this stupid car. Well, MS related anyway lol..

be careful - there is a bug with the "calibrate thermister tables" dialog in 0.995 such that it causes the tune to be lost. If it does that after you go to that menu option, be sure not to save your tune or you will overwrite it with an empty tune.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I'm guessing you'll probably have to upload your tables, quit TS, run TS, then load your tune, and continue doing what you're doing.

I let phil know about it as well...

You don’t have to load thermister tables if using GM sensors, correct? I haven't done that in forever..
