Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Finally hooked my AEM Uego to the MS. Reading fine and same as the cars gauge.
Dropped the $50 to upgrade to registered version and installed. Id like to start using the analyze live features.
I click the analyze live tab and it say there's and error- unable to create bin table.
I searched some and read I could either migrate some file in or switch to 29y4firmware. the only info I could find on it is in this thread
http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 44&start=0
I dont have that as an option in my ecu definitions even after reinstalling today and I dont know where to get the part of the ini file from or how to swap them. Maybe someone has encountered this before?
Ive been using 029k on my MS1V3
And while Im asking questions, does anyone know why my vacboost gauge is almost always reading wrong. but after restarting TS or the car it will read right? Couldnt get it reading right today tho.

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
It sounds like you have 2 problems here.
1) there is no support for your AEM Linear WB controller with 29k
2) this Bin table error.
For the first it seems easiest to just upgrade to the current supported firmware. It has been stable a long time and rarely changes anymore.
The 2nd, I need more detail, I haven't heard of that before.
can you give me the exact error or better yet, delete your TunerStudioLogFile.txt, start TS make the error happen then send me the new TunerStudioLogFile.txt
What version of TunerStudio are you using?

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Thanks for quick response. Maybe able to sort it out today
I stated I tried to load the lastest version and redownloaded from DIYat.com and it was the same thing I had. Id like to switch to the 29y4 but its not an option listed. I have 29y3 listed. Maybe use that?
There is the error Im getting and you can see Im using v1.004
I attached the log. Im working offline now so lots of com7 errors just ignore those. The bin table error comes up on or offline tho and I suppose its because of using the wrong firmware without a linear wb option.
Here are the options it does give and the first one works well

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Either use the ini file that ships with the firmware or use "Detect" in TunerStudio and it should pick the correct one.

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
29y4 has a 29y3 serial signature and still uses the 29y3 ini.I stated I tried to load the lastest version and redownloaded from DIYat.com and it was the same thing I had. Id like to switch to the 29y4 but its not an option listed. I have 29y3 listed.
But you can not just select that there, you must make sure you have 29y4 firmware loaded on your controller. Then make TS match it.
That error does look to be very much the same as the one in that thread you pointed at, 29y will fix that.
Looking at your log, it appears to be running into an error creating your AFR Table.
I'll bet you can not open your AFR table from the menu either.
That should be the right selection for your AEM WB..

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
The one it detects is the 29k and it doesnt support the linear wideband. I tried browsing 'other' and found the 29y4 ini. in the megasquirt folder and clicked it.
Now I cant connect anymore. I auto detect to go back to how I had it and it throws a mismatch error.
So you guys know, I dont know this stuff in depth. Id say im scrapping by and most things are over my head. luckily some was automatic. Just havent had the experience yet so please be specific into how and why about making changes so I can proceed correctely.

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
You can't just change the ini in TunerStudio, you will need to load the new firmware on your MegaSquirt as well.
Just make sure you save your msq 1st, then load it again once the new firmware is loaded.
EDIT: Change "can" to "can't!"

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Ill need a min to think about that. but I do think I just learned something. I got back to the 29k and it looks like the same settings still so that good.
And it appears that I browse the files and select the ini. Then uncheck other and it will have a new list of definitons to choose from. Didnt know that. Now to figure the rest out....
edit *nevermind found some info on loading new firmware but was for MS2

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
If you don't mind me asking, why did you go to L instead of the current 29y?

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Alright Im not sure whats going on. I thought I had it figured out. Ill give you the rundown of what I did.
in project prop conf I selected the 29y4 ini out of my megasquirt file.
Then clicked detect and it found 29l serial sig that worked.
So I was saying I had that but I guess I should say it 29y4 still.
But I opened it up again and it says Im on 29k again but VEAL still works as you can see it in the background. Thats confusing haha.

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Have you actually upgraded your firmware?
If you just select different ini files in TunerStudio without actually upgrading the firmware on your MegaSquirt, you will just get an ini mismatch error when you try to connect to it.

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
As Phil questions, it sounds like you still haven't actually loaded the firmware. TunerStudio can't (presently) load firmware - you MUST use the external firmware loader programme that comes with the firmware zip.
See where it says "Latest firmware" in the manual

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
I think I did that yesterday and thats how I was able to find the new 29y4 ini. I got it here http://www.diyautotune.com/softwarelinks.htm
and guessing its the same as what in the zip you're suggesting.
Also, It is working. I used the VEAL before my last comment and it changed 95bins out of my 144. none over .3 max. Had a blast doing it too haha.
I dont have connectivity issues anymore, I just didnt understand why it said 29k again but VEAL still works.
I had opened my recentely saved msq with that code (29k) after the switch to 29y. but I went thru the steps of finding the ini and detecting it and saved it again over that.
Sound like ive got? It works so maybe dont sweat the details?

Look at the "Help page here" and it shows you how to find the actual firmware version you have from the title bar of TunerStudio.

Was there supposed to be a link there between the quotations? Help page where? on this forum or on TS?

Oh, thanks. I guess I missed it because you have to hit reply first.
But seems you missed that in the 3 screenshots I posted it doesnt say the firmware version in the title bar.
So........?

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
You need to be online. (i.e. Megasquirt powered up and connected to your computer.)

Re: Bin table error trying to use VEAL
Ok that makes sense. Here we go-
029l. So thats not 029y4? or it is, just a serial sig of the 29y4 INI.?
the ecu definition still says msns-extra 029k so I gather I didnt get the firmware loaded, Somehow I made veal work tho. Im pretty confused at this point. Im not bothered by that tho as I am a newb.
