The version in the title bar is the version you are running. An obsolete one called 029l.
029y4 is the current supported code for MS1 processors.

So that looks to be 29l with a serial signature of 29k.

You did not update to 29y

OK.
I went to lastest firmware and downloaded the 029y4 files and it is all for Megatune, which ive never used and dont plan to. Ive read the read me and its all for that. I dont have 2.25 so copying the copyini folder doesnt work.

I found a site on google that might help me do it for TS. Ill give it a shot.

Where you see documents on where to put the ini file an what not you can ignore that as TunerStudio has the ini and takes care of that as you were doing above.

The Manuals link at the top of the page has an MS1 downloads section. There are still some old MegaTune bundles, but MegaTune is unrelated to firmware installation. The firmware is loaded with the dos program in the firmware zip file. The download you probably want is the one that says "Latest firmware 029y4a only (32bit/64bit)" with this link:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/Dow ... 029y4a.zip

Download that zip file, then extract it somewhere.
Then run "download-firmware.bat"

You will be prompted for com port, etc and give some instructions there.

Alright Ive finally got it. Thank you for the support. When I have more than .32c in my account Ill support back lol.
Seems the software caught all the changes and didnt wipe it all out.
I did read in the read me that it will be 25% leaner or something so Ill have to retune. Ill check that out tomorrow.
Also I see the target tables arent in volts anymore but afr ratio like I wanted.
Is it true the analyze live doesnt make changes above 100kpa or wot?

Nope, not true. It will tune all of the table unless you set the filters on the advanced tab to stop it or lock the cells.

Find the indicator with a red cross out through it, right click on it and select a valid indicator for the new firmware.

Tried that. The first choice is config error! config error! So I switched to one of the others and yes it kept the error from popping up again, but the car is still no start.
Isnt the fidle spark necessary to have it run and idle properly? Still saying config error in the indicator means I need to config it to work properly right?

Yes... Config error is a problem.. Fixing the indicator only gets rid of the message you posted.

If you are getting a config error then there is likely a conflict.

If you are not getting prompted by TunerStudio with what it is, then:
- Open Mini-Term under the communications menu
- Open the Port you normally use for your megasquirt at 9600 baud
- Power Cycle your MegaSquirt.

You should get a message in Mini-Term telling you what the conflict is.

Ohh,
That isn't a config error. That is the selection for the Config Error Indicator.

If the config error indicator isn't lit. It is something else.

Start with the basics. Is the rpm reading while you are cranking?

Got it started and Idling again.
Had to change these-
•2nd trigger active edge: rising and falling
•Wheel decoder routine: 024s9 style
On the 'Spark' menu choose 'Spark Settings' and set 'Spark Output Inverted' to NO, and set the trigger angle to 60. It is critical to get the Spark Output Inverted setting correct, as setting this wrong can result in damage to the ignition module or coil.

Mine was yes. Which isnt good. Im running a 4-pin HEI and Blaster coil. The car starts up and idles great, but wont rev without breaking up. Im wondering if I did cause damage to the coil or if its another setting I need to find and fix. ?
HEI is getting very hot some Im going to turn the dwell down and see if it helps clear it up. crank-5 running 3.7 now.

I was under the impression that all the settings were the same after I loaded the msq and the tables all appeared the same. Looks like I was wrong and was rushing things a bit.

If I remember correctly, the HEI4 isn't a very good choice for driving a coil from the Megasquirt as those modules are designed to be used with a distributor pickup only.
Using the direct coil control (BIP373) will generally work better.

Some can drive the coil with just the MS but some have to have the HEI. much cheaper to have the HEI as the iginitor than replacing distys all the time anyway. My HEI is hacked into the disty.

FINALLY got it! starting and running great!
Downloaded my base MSQ from the disc and seen that I was mistaken to think the spark output inverted should be set to NO.
My MS was built to have it set to yes. Thanks to Shaodome for that info.
Thanks to you again Phil for guiding me. Wish I knew what you knew about this stuff.

I was going to dab into the launch control next, but after all this I MIGHT just leave things alone for awhile.
