Cannot run sequential message

Post by charged3800z24 »

MS3/MS3X
Buick C3I / 3800 v6
TS Beta v1.39
Alpha 20

OK, i have setting configured for Full Sequential and C3I CAM-Out on the MS3X Cam-in. I got a message in TS saying "Cannot run sequential Without knowing Engine Phase (e.g. A cam sensor)" I looked in the manual and didn't see a setting for this and could find it uncer project propereties. Any Thoughts?

Edit: Ok spoke to Frank_ster and he helped me through the settings. Doesn't seem to have spark and rpm didn't show on TS gauge. It is dark and late. I'll verify everything tomorrow and see what happens.

Have atteched them.
I might have miss read, but is "Semi Seq" what would be used for Batch fire on the MS3X outputs or is setting this to "off"? Wanted to test more today.

What's your current status - is the config error gone and are you getting rpm ?

I am attaching tooth composite log from current setup using alpha21. I don't have the error any longer, but still have no RPM in TS. I did, however, get the car to almost start when using toothed weel settings and CAM setup when on STD Inj outputs (See Screen Shot in the above post for ING settings). It wouldn't try to fire at all using the MS3X outputs. I do not have NOID lights at home so I could not verify the Injector Outputs were working.

So yes, there's no cam signal in that log.

You need that before you can run sequential.

Without it "Basic Trigger" will work, but nothing else.

Hmm, I wonder why. I am using the CMP (Cam Positiong) out from the Buick C3I module to CAM IN. Should I run direct from the Cam Sensor to MS3X CAM IN?

The MS3X injector outputs can be used with sequential set to "Off"

The wiring _sounds_ ok as you have it. How did you configure the cam input in the Megasquirt ?

Not sure exactly what you need so i'll tell you all I can think of. I have The CMP wire connected to CAM -IN on the MS3X board, JP7 removed the the Pots turned per the manual. I did not do anything else. May I have missed something?

"When using a VR (magnetic) sensor input, the cam input adjustment potentiometers should be set as follows. Turn both pots (R11 and R32) full anti-clockwise - approx five turns. This is usually the right setting. "

Edit: Also, If you look in my Screen Shot of the Combined Ingnition settings page you can see the settings I was using.

There's your problem then - the output from the module is not the same as a VR sensor.
Set the MS3X board the same as for LS1 (a few sentences later than the section you quoted.)

Thanks James, your always a great help! One other thing, The manual said to wire the injectors based on you firing order which I believe I did. Below is how I wired it, will I need to change any thing?

firing order 1 6 5 4 3 2
Engine - MS3X - DB 37 Connector
black = 1 - A - 19
green black = 2 - F - 4
pink black = 3 - E - 7
blue black = 4 - D - 10
black white = 5 - C - 13
yellow black = 6 - B - 16
