Wasted spark mode from 36-1 wheel

Post by speedy »

Hi,

With the recent success from the generic decoder wheel mode, has anyone successfully do away with the edis4 module?

Can MsnS decoder mode be used to fire 4 cyl wasted spark from the 36-1 wheel? Because i wanted to remove the edis module completely.

I have run a 36-1 setup using the LM1815 circuit and two HEI4 modules on the test bench and it worked ok. I have not tried it on an engine.

Unless you NEED spark cut I would advise people to stay with the EDIS module as it is a proven robust solution.

Southern hemisphere guys may find the wheel decoder an interesting solution as I believe EDIS is not easily available there.

For wheel decoder stick with 021u code for the moment.

Hi James,

I would like to try it on my car,can you tell me how to setup for it?

I have afew cars to fit MS,and EDIS module is not easy to come by in my area.

On your bench test bench, can you get good sparks all the way to 7000rpm?

Thanks for helping

My bench only runs up to 2500rpm.

I used the LM1815 wired as per the website, though check the Wheel Decoder thread in Megasquirtnspark forum as RyanPzz has a component change suggestion.

I then wired up two HEI4 modules like on the Neon page.
