722.6 and NAG1 transmission
The other day I was looking for a transmission controller to swap my current 722.3 to 722.6 transmission and came across a thread on the msgpio forums for a guy asking for help to control this transmission, a good info was posted on that thread regards the 722.6 http://www.msgpio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=207. Also there was progress in the msgpio to be able to control the 722.6 but it seems to be on hold for now. See page 10 on the Latest Code Updates on the msgpio forum http://www.msgpio.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 0&start=90
My question is Could the microquirt be used to control these transmission using the info from that thread and maybe help from the msgpio guys or at least be considered in the future to be able to do that? As these transmission are become popular in the tuning mercedes world.
These transmission was fitted in 4cylinder mercedes engine up to high power amg monsters and quite a few others makers. I believe there could be market for microsquirt in that area as they also see to be popular in chrysler and dodge.

Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
If we could get NAG 1 support it would open up doors to a whole new market. The 722.6 is a fantastic transmission capable of handling over 1000 RWHP (when upgraded like the Southern Hotrod Viking or War Viking) and the Mopar market is begging for something to use it for retrofits or all out race cars. Please do it!
Sometimes there's only one way to find out! Just do it!!!
Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
If the Megashift had supported the 722.6 I would had used this trans instead of the 4L60e
Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
Hello I too am in the market looking for a controller for the 722.6, I have converted a 1985 Mercedes 380SL to MS3X (still running strong since 2013-14).
I am currently planning to swap the weak M116 V8 3.8 & 722.3 to a M103 inline-6 3.0 and bolting it to a 722.6
Me: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107- ... gress.html
My daily driver is a 1999 Mercedes CLK430 (722.6 NAG1). It goes a long way if you have a good test mule and I am ready to get started ASAP.
I am open and ready to be a part of this breakthrough with Megasquirt.

I know it has been a while, but is anyone still interested in this?

We get people asking about this on a fairly regular basis, and could probably round up one willing to do some real testing.

Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
Does anyone have access to any additional information? The shift table diagram posted was a good start, but some info on PWM frequencies is rather important.

Man, I am so glad you guys decided to revive this. I have the additional information on Solenoid voltage, resistance and duty cycle.jsmcortina wrote:Does anyone have access to any additional information? Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
James, are you still thinking you might be interested in developing something for the 722.6? The reason I ask is that my current project is kind of getting to where it works really well (E36 with LS 4.8L mated to TH400 I've learned to build, radiator and turbos in the trunk, mainly a drift car, but ran 10.6 at 143 the other day on a 2.03 60ft), and I might be interested in doing a 996 Porsche next with an turbo LS swap. The 996.2 and 997 tiptronics both used the 722.6 from what I can tell, so I'm excited by the rocketship prospects of something like that.
Most likely I won't be getting going on something like that until next year some time, but it would be excellent to be able to use MS3X+Micro to control the deivetrain when the time comes, and would definitely add incentive to the project!
Hope things are good for you!
Thad

Watching this space as well, would love the current M119 on MS3X to change from 722.3 to 722.6

Re: 722.6 and NAG1 transmission
722.6 is an interesting option for sure!
One thing I think would be exceptional (and I'm not sure in the least is possible) is if there was an output from the TCU (Micro or whatever) to the MS3 to tell it to retard timing during the shift. That option seems to be lacking from the most commonly used TCU for the 722.6, and I think it would help the 722.6 withstand even more impressive amounts of abuse than it already does.

That feature's already present. I've used it with a 4L60E project to ensure it didn't turn into one of those memes.Tjabo wrote:One thing I think would be exceptional (and I'm not sure in the least is possible) is if there was an output from the TCU (Micro or whatever) to the MS3 to tell it to retard timing during the shift.
