Battery voltage too low configuration error message
I have been trying to get cold start to work and intermittently get this message. I recycle the ignition and all is well again. The error message gives me no clue where to look for the configuration error so I don't know what to fix.
Any ideas? I'll try to remember to screenshot it next time.
Thanks, Nigel.

Post a Data-Log next time and we may be able to see something.

Re: Battery voltage too low configuration error message
Doesn't seem like a configuration error and it recovers immediately without charging.jsmcortina wrote:How about the battery voltage?NigeT wrote:The error message gives me no clue where to look

Re: Battery voltage too low configuration error message
This usually happens on the Miata during cranking when there's false sync and there's starter kickback due to an ignition event at the wrong time. It's somewhat annoying as most users can't tell that it has happened during cranking, and they keep cranking while the ECU is in error mode.jsmcortina wrote:How about the battery voltage?NigeT wrote:The error message gives me no clue where to look

Re: Battery voltage too low configuration error message
That fits. The last time it happened (last night) was during a failed start attempt, one of many. One had a backfire, but I don't remember if it immediately preceeded this message.Reverant wrote:This usually happens on the Miata during cranking when there's false sync and there's starter kickback due to an ignition event at the wrong time. Is there any way to prevent the bad syncing?

I encountered it today... and edited the code to remove it for the next beta.Reverant wrote:This usually happens on the Miata during cranking when there's false sync and there's starter kickback due to an ignition event at the wrong time. Great, thank you.jsmcortina wrote:I encountered it today... and edited the code to remove it for the next beta.Reverant wrote:This usually happens on the Miata during cranking when there's false sync and there's starter kickback due to an ignition event at the wrong time. Please have a look at the sync code for the 4G63 and Miata 99-05, there's at least 50% chance that there will be a starter kickback during cranking when the engine is cold.

Re: Battery voltage too low configuration error message
It tends to get worse as the engine's static compression rises.Reverant wrote:Great, thank you.jsmcortina wrote:I encountered it today... and edited the code to remove it for the next beta.Reverant wrote:This usually happens on the Miata during cranking when there's false sync and there's starter kickback due to an ignition event at the wrong time.
