Need a longer threaded IAT

Post by BigMike »

Hello MS!

I am looking for info on a longer, threaded IAT. I'm currently running the typical GM IAT sensor (p/n 25036751, purchased from DIY) which works great but I've mounted it in not an ideal location.

In brief: Supercharged 4cyl, IAT mounted post intercooler. However, I have an off-boost air bypass valve and that cool air charge is dumped directly into the intake manifold. So under boost I'm fine, MegaSquirt sees heated compressed air temps, but for idle and casual driving there is no active air flow through the intercooler and actual air entering the engine is much cooler.

I've come up with a good new sensor location which is my factory cold start injector mount, removed and blocked off long ago, but the factory cold start injector is quite long and inserts into about a 2 to 2.5" length bore/hole in the intake manifold. The GM IAT sensor will fit in the bore no problem, but the tip or end of the sensor won't be directly in the air flow due to it being too short. I could machine the boss down and tig weld a 3/8 bung in there, but if I'm gonna do that then I could just mount the GM sensor basically anywhere on the manifold. Using the cold start is easy because I already have a laser cut block-off plate and all I'd need to do is drill and tap a hole in the plate and thread in a sensor, done.

So far I've found this guy, https://bofiracing.co.uk/performance/ec ... ne-ecus-2/
It looks longer than the GM sensor but it's hard to tell the scale of it in the image. The connector looks fairly large which means the sensor might be shorter than I'm thinking.

Does anyone know what make & model/SKU sensor this is? (...or is it a proprietary sensor made by "Eight Nine"?) I'd like to pick one up but as I'm in the US of A and that page is in the UK, I'd like to find one locally in case it doesn't work.

Then I've come across this guy, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09QXBH9DG, which looks to be a Chrysler sensor, however, it's not threaded so I'd have to come up with some way to mount it into the bore/hole which sees 18 PSI boost.

If anyone has seen a long or extended length air intake temp sensor that is threaded and can sustain boost, then please let me know, thanks!!

BigMike

Ohh wow that's the one from that UK shop, thank you! Gonna pick one up and see how it compares to the GM sensor length 👍🏽
