bmw e30 tacho

Post by gabriel »

Hi I have a problem with running my stock e30 tacho

I have tried with these 2 diagrams but both don't do anything to my tacho

I used a 10k resistor to connect to the 12v

and i used my ms to motronic converter to connect the tacho to the megaqsuirt (motronic pin 6) (looked it up in a stock e30 wiring diagram)

And i used IAC1A for the tach out of the megasquirt

in all of my E30 builds I use JS11 jumpered to one of the extra pins on the DB37 (spr 1-4 usually), and simply enable the tach output. No circuit required. But I've heard of euro clusters not working that way (which doesn't really make sense as they all use the same ECU's).

but it could be worth a try.

On my car I had to use a small relay to simulate the signal from the stock coil, but then again i am using LS2 coils on mine.

E30s (with the exception of possibly the earlier ones with true distributors) do not trigger the tach off the coil. it's a logic level signal from the ECU.

Hi,

I have a problem with my e30 tacho, it works, but for some reason shows about 15% less rpm than the engine actually revs, also the tachometer needle wanders about 200rpm all the time. The car has a tacho from 6cyl engine, previously I had m50b25 engine with stock ECU and the tacho worked fine.

I've taken the tacho output from JS11 on the ms3 board.

Nevermind :)

Tacho works now, the batteries on e30 dash were low.

Hi everyone!
I've own an e21 /6 MS v2.2 with 3 dual ignition coils and wasted spark.
My problem is that the tacometer is like "divided by 3".

Inside the MS there are 3 connectors welded between itselves, but besides thats is not working properly.

I dont know if that post would fix my problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Im running my stock tach, but what you mean with that?
What sort of info do you need? i got it connected direct from the DB connector signal output.

are you using any tacho output settings I'm the ecu? Maybe get some picks up of how it looks inside the ms.
