Smart coil not firing (no spark)

Post by Bean_2601 »

Have 99 jeep 4.0 running a microsquirt V3. Got a new smart coil with a built in ignitor. Ignout1 is going to pin A as my trigger and my sensor ground is pin B everything is just else is just as the manual says (see pinout below). I get no spark at all in test mode or cranking. Ive pulled a plug and tried to check with a single plug right to the coil and still nothing. Am I missing a resistor I need to hook up? Run the additional sensor ground just to the coil? No clue! Any help is appreciated I'm totally stumped.

Pinout:
A: Coil Trigger (0-5V signal) - Ignout1 (no resistors just straight to ms)
B: Coil Trigger (Ref Ground) - sensor ground
C: Ground to Cylinder Head
D: Battery Ground
E: Battery Positive (Relay or switched ignition)

coil looks like it should be compatible, providing you wired it per there instructions. if you disconnect the coil and get a volt meter on the ign1 pinA of coil plug and use 'output Test Mode I/O' you should be able to toggle the pin between high and low using on & off eg 5v and 0v that output should have an internal pull up resistor already.

Alright I'll check into the wiring some more I've got some ideas. At least I know all the settings and all that aren't the issue. Thanks a lot 👍
