5.0 vortec, 5.7 vortec, 4.3 vortec, 7.4 vortec. all of them will bolt in and have a hall sensor, on 360 degrees and off 360 degrees. and a reman is like $70. then use a 36-1 trigger wheel or the stock vortec crank trigger, timing cover and sensor and timing chain.

that is what I have on my 383:
homemade 60-2 wheel on the damper with a VR sensorfrom a ford car + cam signal in the distributor from a vortec engine: hall sensor. (i still use the distributor, but could switch to COP)
I will try to post pictureslater if needed.

I finally found the pics of the wheel:

At this time, I had not cut the 2 teeth yet. The wheel was laser cut. I could send you the dxf if needed. the holes for the screws arejust on the right place for the damper screws and the center hole just has the right dimension to be centered on the pulleys.
I used 3mm thick sheel-metal, but I think I should have used thicker material like 4 or 5mm to have a better signal on the VR sensor: I had some difficulties to find the right settings for the pots.

Here's a picture of my solution for a SBC. I cut the center out of a 36-1 trigger wheel from diyautotune.com on my lathe. I tack welded it to the pulley and trued it.

Cheers!

I used the sensor PC19 from standard motor parts (bought at Rockauto):

The distance between the sensor and the wheel is ~1mm. I will try to check again and also take pictures next time. I put the sensor on a bracket mounted on an aftermarket timing pointer (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G6312-7/)

here are the link for the wheel and also the spacer I cut from the same thickness to align the waterpump pulley as the puleys were not at the same place anymore with the toothed wheel.

the wheel is for a 7" damper or less. with 8", it would not work I think.

:!: Dimensions are in mm for both files.
there are 60 teeth, in oreder to be able to cut the 2 minus teeth once installed and with the sensor also installed. when I had the wheel cut, I did not know where to put the sensor yet

dig up, no use to make new thread

ms2 V3.0 Extra code 3.3.3

i want to go this way and use Vortec dist on SBC but not quite sure how to know if it is 1 or 4x trigger?

also vortec timing cover will bolt to standard SBC from '87 :?: and why to change timing chain :?:

best regards

You should look in to eficonnections 24x kit. https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnec ... temId=1355

I am using their crank reluctor and a vortec distributor with ls 1 coils in my setup.

Given the choice, I wouldn't be fitting a wheel with the weird GM 24X pattern.

We've had customers run into issues where the 24X pattern on an aftermarket trigger kit didn't quite match the OEM 24X, and resulted in loss of sync issues. The same company sells a 60-2 crank trigger that is a much safer bet.
