TFI module necessary with MSD or CD ignition?

Does the TFI module do any conditioning on the pip signal sent from it or can I connect directly to the hall sensor on the distributor and run it in to pin 24?

Reason I'm asking is I have a swap engine from a 94 mustand which has an external TFI, which didn't come with it. Just wondering if it's necessary to wire one in or not?

I've got a MS2 with v3.0 board I'm piecing together and have a Crane CD ignition and coil I'd like to run instead of running the coil off he TFI module.

Here's a DIY diagram of the connector on my dizzy but their set up is running coil off the module.
