How to identify what Megasquirt version you have
If you are unsure what product you have or where to begin, follow through the table:

Product photo	Description
	From the outside this could be a Megasquirt-1 or a Megasquirt-2. Remove the upper two screws at each end of the case and remove the upper part of the case. Inside you will see a circuit board with either a big black chip or a plugin card. Big black chip = Megasquirt-1. Manuals for your product: here

	This is a Megasquirt-3. (Note taller case, USB port, SDcard slot and two connectors on other end. Some versions will have 3 LEDs instead of the 15pin connector in the photo.) Manuals for your product: here
	This is a v1 or v2 Microsquirt. In TunerStudio Project Properties - Settings ensure you have "Microsquirt (cased)" selected. Manuals for your product: here
	This is a v3 Microsquirt. In TunerStudio Project Properties - Settings ensure you have "Microsquirt (cased)" selected. Manuals for your product: here
	This is a Microsquirt module. In TunerStudio Project Properties - Settings ensure you have "Microsquirt (module)" selected. Manuals for your product: here

	This is the eMS-Pro originally from Spectre. At its core it uses Megasquirt-1 technology. Manuals for your product: here and on here

For Megasquirt 1/2/3 it can also be useful to identify what Mainboard / PCB is inside the case

Board photo	Description
	v1 mainboard, obsolete.
	v2.2 mainboard, semi-obsolete. Not recommended for Megasquirt-2 or Megasquirt-3.
	v3.0 mainboard, DIY through-hole board. Current.
	v357 mainboard, non-DIY surface mount board. Current.

Looks different? If you have a so-called Megasquirt board that doesn't look like one of these or is a different colour, it is almost certainly an illegal counterfeit.

If you are already connected with TunerStudio then the title bar in the program will show the Megasquirt firmware version already.



In the example shown here, TunerStudio is connected to Megasquirt-3 firmware.
