Swap com port fixed
Tried the latest release and I can now switch com ports ok.
EDIT: Previously there was an issue where TS wouldn't allow you to change com ports when using MS3. It always reported Failed on the comms test.
thanks

Re: Swap com port fixed
This should have been working in the last release, unless I just got confused and thought I fixed it before the last release

Re: Swap com port fixed
I've found, even with MS2Extra, that if you don't tell it to test coms, it won't save the change..

Yeah it doesn't save it until it passed a test. That is something I have been meaning to change for a while. I want to just put the Ok Cancel buttons there.Una wrote:I've found, even with MS2Extra, that if you don't tell it to test coms, it won't save the change..

Re: Swap com port fixed
How about releasing the com port. I want to keep TS up when I come inside and it will snap onto the dock just fine. When I try to undock, though, it tells me that something is using COM1 and then it will not allow me to undock unless I shut down TS. I can do this, but just thought I'd let you know.

Re: Swap com port fixed
While we are on serial ports. Would it be possible to make Miniterminal work like the MT one, so it just goes ahead and grabs exclusive access to the port. I can't think of a situation where this would be a bad idea.

Re: Swap com port fixed
When you click on Work Offline, it should be releasing the com port. I have often switched between instances of it doing that.
I switched it to have exclusive access at your request about 6 months ago. While we are on serial ports. Would it be possible to make Miniterminal work like the MT one, so it just goes ahead and grabs exclusive access to the port.

Re: Swap com port fixed
I think that what he meant is that you have to open the Miniterminal and then click the Open Port button. That last part should not be necessary. If you open the Miniterminal window it's because you want it to take over the port. It should release it when closing the window. I'm not sure if that's what James meant but at least I know that's how I would prefer it.LT401Vette wrote:I switched it to have exclusive access at your request about 6 months ago. While we are on serial ports. I'm pretty sure that's what James meant, and that's what I'd also like to happen.

Re: Swap com port fixed
Oh, that's different and easy enough...
I actually have it on my todo list to make a number of improvements tot he Mini-Term, it is pretty rough... I think it would be very useful to be able to put in strings similar to what is in the ini files \x05\x06 ... and have it parse those and send them when you click a send button instead of just sending them as you type. That would be a pretty easy change and I know I have had times that would be useful. Better yet parsing flat x08 XE3 types would be better. You could paste something from a log and send it.
The Mini-Term hasn't gotten much attention so far as it is few users or probably developers that care.
Also the table editor is terrible. If there is much demamnd for that I would put it back on the list to do something with

Re: Swap com port fixed
The last time I used a table editor at all was to fetch tooth logs from Megatune. I've not looked at it since.
Sending binary strings might be nice on a rare occasion, but I've written some apps to do that anyway. So unless you personally want to do it, I don't see it as having any priority.
