Table Generator Question

Table Generator Question

Post by Rick Finsta »

Phil-

For the VE table generator in TS beta, I noticed the generated table is crazy lean compared to what I've got so far on my car; does the generator take into account the AFR in the req_fuel calculations? I've got 9.8 in there, as I'm using E85, but I'm not sure I want to try starting with the generated table (it is about 40% low). Maybe this mill is simply as heavy of a drinker as I am?

When you use a different afr target in the req fuel calculator, it will effect the resulting req fuel, so shouldn't impact the fuel table.

But that said, the ve table generator is far from perfect! If you are getting odd results, I would be interested in getting your inputs and how the generated table compares to a table that is working.

I'll get something for you when I get back out to the garage; hopefully sometime this weekend!

Phil - I never got around to this as my car wasn't up and running until... well really yesterday or so. I've attached my most recent .MSQ. I'm still tuning cold start PW (and it seems to be REALLY thristy) but the table generator is giving my CRAZY lean idle numbers (near stoich) and I need around .88 Lambda to keep her purring. I'll throw a log on here too so you can see the behavior with some revs and such (it goes crazy lean when revving it up, too). I haven't turned on the AFR Target tables yet as I wanted to get them squared away first. Even on gasoline I don't know of any healthy V8 that likes to idle anywhere north of about 13.2 or so...

Let me know if the table generator numbers aren't in the .msq and I can post screenshot but I'm pretty sure they are saved there and not with the project data?

The table generator numbers are not in the msq.

Ok, here's what I entered:

900rpm Idle at 45kPa
Redline 6500rpm
peak power 466hp at 6200rpm and 100kPa
peak torque 458lb./ft. @ 4700rpm and 100kPa
Engine displacement is 362cid/5932cc

Calculated req_fuel is 12.2 but I'm using 11.6 until I get the VE table tuned at idle then I'll rescale it.

I used 9.8 for stoich with E85. For E85 the general targets (on the "gasoline scale") are:
12.7-12.9 at Idle (or 0.86-0.88 Lambda)
12.3-12.5 Part throttle (or 0.83-0.85 Lambda)
11.7-12.2 WOT (or 0.76-0.78 Lambda)

She seems really happy at 12.7-12.9 idle with around 18-20* of timing, but I might need to play with that and lean her out a bit because she doesn't want to idle low (too much torque I guess - I shoulda bought a Chevy... )
