AFR and lambda gauge at the same time?

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

AFR and lambda gauge at the same time?

Post by Kumppari »

is it possible to have both AFR and lambda gauges on the cluster at the same time?

reason i am interested at this is because during my process of switching over to ethanol (e85 to be precise) it finally hit me that lambda is actually quite neat unit, seeing as it keeps the same numbers regardless of fuel. i would be happy to simply switch over to λ permanently, but my friend whom i often pester with trivial and sometimes stupid questions (cause he always seems to have answers for them), and sometimes manage to get sitting on the passenger side holding my laptop, has been tlaking about AFR numbers for too long to change his ways, so it would be nice to have a gauge fo both of us.

Sure you can - just add the gauge in the style you prefer.

Here's a portion of one of my dashboards showing both Lambda and AFR.

I can add gauges, but cannot find lambda on the right click menu.
Am I missing something obvious?

I'm running TunerStudio beta v2.5.17 and ms2extra 3.3.1a firmware. I'm not at all certain about which other versions of TS support the Lambda gauge but I have been running it for quite a while.

It is really up to what firmware you are using and if the ini has both defined with your project settings.

If not, then you can always define the 2nd in a custom.ini yourself.

MS3 with 1.3.0 firmware. where is this custom.ini file located, and how woud I go about defining it?

did some further poking around and after changing oxygen sensor/display from project properties, i did get the option to add lambda gauge, but it doesent seem to show right readings. when AFR gauge hovers around 14.7 lambda gauge shows crazy lean numbers of around 1.4 λ after i changed project properties settings back, this happened:

The custom.ini goes in:
{YourProjectFolder}\projectCfg\custom.ini

Put this in it and you will have a Lambda gauge on the right click menu.

Code: Select all

[OutputChannels]
     myLambda1 = {  afr1 / stoich }

[GaugeConfigurations]
    gaugeCategory = "My Gauges"
         myLambdaGauge      = myLambda1,       "Lambda 1",             "",      0.5,   1.5,    0.5,   0.7,    2,  1.1, 2, 2

That worked, I now have both gauges on at the same time.
But they are are disagreeing with eachother.
So, I call it partial success?
