reads 3 times goes offline

Post by boosteds12 »

i have been trying to get my new tablet to read my ecu, so i hooked my laptop back up and when i started my car i got the initializing bar across the middle but it didn't count up. i would be greyed out while attempting then go normal like its connected and my gauges would read like they were supposed to then it would go grey out again with the bar across the middle saying reading controller settings then go normal to a total of three times then say "error message returned:serial failure, unable to get all pages of data after multiple attempts. application will now go offline. to attempt to go back online check the project menu when connection problems are resolved" does this mean i somehow fried my serial port on my ms2 or? i have tried two cables and neither work. i am on ms2 v3 running ts2.6.14. i am still new to this stuff and am not sure how i messed it up, thank you all in advance.

It sounds like you are having some type of comms issue.
It is getting runtime data but unable to successfully read the calibration data.

How are you connected? USB? Type of USB Adapter? Cables?

What firmware are you running?

Can you take a Comm Debug log?

I'm getting the same symptoms and error message when trying to use bluetooth. RS232 cable works fine.

Firmware is ms2extra-pre3.4beta10. I've tried a few other firmware versions without success. TunerStudio is current 2.6.14.

I'm not sure what information to provide (or how to obtain a comm debug log).

Edit: here's a comm debug log

I got mine working as well. Not exactly sure what the original fault was. I stepped away for a few days and came back to it today. Re-installed the firmware and created a new project. Built it slowing and it all works. Connected over a dozen times without error.

OK so i still have this problem, though i thought i figured it out. it still attempts to read three times then goes offline. it doesn't even get to 1% when attempting to read my ecu. I have gone into project properties and made sure can was turned off and that can id was set to 0. i have read through several other posts about not reading ecu and have taken the advice of extending the timeout to no avail. i am a noob at this and have not had this problem till i tried to hook my android tablet to my MS2. once i started attempting to do that i started having read ecu problems. i am going to attempt to post an msq and debug log though this is my first time so not truly sure how to do this.

Failing after 3 tries essentially just means there is some type of communication problem where TunerStudio can not read the calibration data on the controller. If it fails, it will try again for 3 trys then it gives up and displays the message. So in short, there is some problem, but what it is can be quite widely spread.

An incorrect CAN ID can cause it, or in the case where you can connect fine with a USB/Serial cable, but bluetooth doesn't work, that would imply there is a problem with the configuration of your bluetooth adapter.

To help further I need a TunerStudioAppDebug.txt with Comm Debug turned on.

Hello, so is not any of the files i attatched the correct files? and i am connecting with a rs232 to usb adapter that has worked fine until i started attempting to change things to hook up my droid tablet. i havent even gotten my bluetooth adapter yet to try out. so where would this log.txt be at, in the efianalitics/tunerstudioms/projects folder at the bottom correct? if so then that is what i gave acces to the link in my dropbox. if there is another way to display it here i do not know it as of yet if you could please provide a link i will read it and learn how to give that info properly.

Thank you all in advance

The log you posted is the one, but Comm Debug (under the Communications Menu) was not turned on.

What did you change to work with your tablet?
It might be helpful if you included a project archive.

Ok so I have to turn on debug log before I open my last project and try to connect, then I hook up my cable up and let it attempt to connect and let it time out, then I exit tuner studio and post the debug log that is in the folder that I referenced in earlier post? And I also need to post a project archive and I think that was in the same drop down menu or close to project properties. Correct? And I honeslt don't remember everything I tried to change to get my tab to work as it was several things over a couple of weeks and I was reading posts from multiple people who had said they did this or that in an attempt. I hope I don't have to reset everything and start from scratch but if that is the only way then I'll do it. I also just updated tuner studio as I found there was one though when I would go to check for updates it wouldn't find anything.

Thank you again. I will try the debug log later today.

So i finally figured out that i somehow selected a can id of 0 instead of 1 and with that fixed it connects again. i don't remember changing that but hey i guess i did.

thank you all for the help.

Yep, and it is a good idea to delete the TunerStudioAppDebug.txt before starting TS to get rid of the earlier stuff and keep the size down. It gets big fast with comm debug on.
