Windows 10 process hang when searching for Com ports

Post by JPSeuropa »

I noticed a new behavior when I ask Tuner Studio to search for Com ports. This issue never came up before Windows 10. I was on Windows 7 before.
I am using a Kensington USB Bluetooth adapter to communicate with Megasquirt units in the garage from a room above the garage. I am using the bluetooth units I got from EFI Analytics on the Megasquirts. I only have one turned on at a time, but I do use both of them. The issue occurs with both units.
Anyway, sometimes, but not always, Tuner Studio hangs when I ask it to detect which Com port has an active EFI connection. I have to manually kill Java to shut down.
I can see in my bluetooth config window that I have an active connection, but Tuner Studio does not always detect it.
It is not a huge problem, as I can kill and restart things and can always get it to work, but I thought I would report it.
Weird...

It is more likely the BT Com ports causing the problem more than Windows 10.

If TS tries to interrogate a BT incoming port, it can cause a hang. TS should be adding that to the disabled port though.

Not sure about that...
This behavior started when I upgraded to W10.
In any case, great products!

I'm running windows 10 and ms3x, Tunerstudio finds my controller and firmware to create my project but when I click finish it does not connect. I've noticed when I open the communication tab settings and data rate are greyed. Do I have afile misplaced?

Did you open a project?

Normally on windows 7 creating the project and finishing opens the project created. I have tried to open the project after restarting tunerstudio.

Yes, the same will happen in windows 10. If it isn't there is likely some type of exception occurring.
