Hello. New here and new to Megasquirt. I have a MSPNP2 for the 94-95 Miata. I'm having difficulty getting the ECU and TunerStudio on my Mac to communicate.
I had an old PC laptop and was able to get it to connect to the ECU, but it has kicked the bucket. It used a regular serial cable. On the new Mac (OS X 10.11.4 early 2015 MacBook Pro 3.1Ghz) I need to use a USB to serial adapter. I'm using a cheap eBay model. The Mac sees the adapter as "USB 2.0 To COM Device." Product ID is 0x2303. Vendor ID is 0x067b (Prolific Technology, Inc.)
When I create a new project in TunerStudio MS Lite v2.6.14, I try to detect firmware. It runs for a few seconds and comes up with "No controller found. Check your connections..." I would try fiddling with the communication setting or data rate in TunerStudio, but they are not clickable options.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know this is kind of open ended. Could be the adapter, driver, who knows. Thank you for your time.

i had the same issue, its the cable... you need one with a FTDI chipset in it, once i change to a cable like that mine worked right away, no drivers or nothing, having spent hrs trying to get the cheaper cable to work...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/320887815758? pretty sure this is the one i have, but emil them to check what chipset is in it....

Re: Mac communication difficulty
On OS X there are no serial drivers installed by default, to use Virtual Comms you will need to install the proper drivers for your cable.
Alternatively, if you use a cable based on the FTDI chipset, then TunerStudio can use D2XX and you do not need to install drivers.
The recommended cable for this is:

Re: Mac communication difficulty
Thanks guys. I did mess around with drivers for the adapter I have with no luck. I just now ordered the adapter on the EFI Analytics site. Fingers are crossed.
Re: Mac communication difficulty
It worked! TunerStudio recognized the MSPNP2 right away. Thanks for the help!
