This is on a Macbook pro running sierra.
That sounds like a permissions issue. Does your user not have write privileges to the /Applications dir?

Ok... Mystery solved..

There was a bad entry in the database for the non-beta TunerStudio MS.
No jar file was getting downloaded.

Now it should update.

It's an admin user, but I don't think even an admin user can write to /Application without typing their password. When installing, you get prompted for the password. But I get no prompt when TS tries to update.

Edit: I also can't find a more recent download than 3.0.01 on the TunerStudio downloads page, so I can't update manually.

The permissions in the TunerStudio MS.app folder are such that it does have normally write permissions. The OS X installers are a more time consuming manual process so are not built every release, thus depend on auto update to bring it up to speed.

The file it seems to be failing on is a temp file that is downloaded during the update.

Please work with support <at> efianalytics. com to get your install to update, I don't want to confuse this thread with a different issue.

Update: Yes, it was a permissions issue. The installed dir was somehow owned by a nonexistent user, probably from the migration assistant. Works now.

Glad you got it working...
I wonder if the response went to SPAM. I will look into the response.

I have the jar problem. How do you make it update when you cant get into it? Or will it attempt itself. As a note it appeared to auto update when this happened, I hadn't used it.

This update contains protection against that for future updates, but this update would have been performed by the old code that if your connection gets interrupted it can end up with half a file.

Your fix is the best way to go for that, download the regular installer and run it.

Auto-updated to 3.0.14
No problems with updating, even with the primary laptop in the car in the garage over a wifi repeater at a slower connection speed.
