Windows tablet?
My MSE2 works fine on a laptop via a USB/serial cable. I like the live data screens (and autotune capability which is going to be needed!!) that Tunerstudio provides but plan a tablet capability as part of my dashboard. Are there any issues with using a windows tablet via a cable connection. I've reached stalemate with my attempts at getting bluetooth to work with my Android devices.
Any thoughts welcome.....

Try to connect via bt with MSdroid and just see what it does. Mine works. My ShadowDash doesn't. Trying to understand what happened here.

Re: Windows tablet?
Its been a few weeks since I tried and the cars is in mid-wire-up at the moment. IIRC I got some message about "file not available, contact us to have it added". Still got one more trick to try on the serial to BT module I bought (ebay special).
Re: Windows tablet?
Yeah, it seems the Linvor FW units tend to work pretty good as long as they are based on the HC0x series...
However, the BC (Bolutek) units are fairly horrible lol. I have 3 of them that I intend to reflash to the linvor fw. PC won't connect correctly, etc etc.

Re: Windows tablet?
blaqrob Sods law says I have the Bolutek unit. I got it set up fine on my PC but its reluctant to work in the MS. Last try is to join the pins on the MS board like this http://www.megamanual.com/com/bluetooth.html and see if that helps....
Another option I have given thought to is the cheap OBD2 dongles that are on eBay, the one I bought works as happy as Larry in rteal OBD2 sockets. Juts need to ID the pins and bingo....maybe ;-)
Nathaninwa do you know the spec on the processor in that Dell unit? There's one thats under £100 and another that's £350!! Wouldn't think it needs a mega processor.....
Thanks
Gareth

Don't read that link... That page is older than TunerStudioradiogareth wrote:blaqrob Sods law says I have the Bolutek unit. I got it set up fine on my PC but its reluctant to work in the MS. With TunerStudio 3.0 there is Bluetooth Direct built into it for windows, so Bluetooth is much simpler and more reliable. The key is to get a decent BT Adapter and set it up right.

You should be able to make most BT Adapters work, but their performance varies considerably and most need configuring.
The easy way out is to get the one that is know to work and set up already:

Re: Windows tablet?
i brought a windows tablet made by tesco, the "connect" was £27 manufacture refurbed, and £5 for a micro usb to usb adapter from ASDA, (theme here)
it talks to my MS1 2.2 fine and does auto tune ect. the screen on tablets it tricky as its small but would be fine with a pointy stylus, but its easy enough to hit start on auto tune and sit it in the car

Re: Windows tablet?
I’m currently using an old 8” Lenovo Mix 2 tablet, running windows 8.1 and have had no problems running tuner studio over Bluetooth using the adaptor I purchased from the EFI analytics website. It’s actually been easier to connect than my laptop was.
I also use a virtual mouse program called touch mouse pointer, which makes it far easier to navigate if making small changes. obviously the laptop is easier for major changes, but the tablet is great for driving an mounts easily in front of the head unit via the CD slot.
The lack of a keyboard does present a few issues, due to the lack of short cut keys especially for logging. I’ve managed to add a couple of shortcut gestures using the virtual mouse program, e.g. 4 finger tap to start logging (Control +L) and 3 finger tap to mark a reference point on the Log (Space bar).
What I would like to do though, is add shortcut buttons to the dash, for these type of functions. Just wondered if this was possible?

Agreed, I have one of these Bluetooth adapters working reliably with Windows (7 and upgraded to 10), as well as both Shadow dash and MSDroid on an Android stereo

Re: Windows tablet?
I am using an Asus Transformer running windows 10. It works with Tuner Studio with both a RS232 to USB dongle as well as with the Bluetooth adapter. Transformer is best of both worlds: Large tablet or with the keyboard hooked up, small laptop.

Re: Windows tablet?
When using TunerStudio with your Asus Transformer, did you run "auto tune"? If so and you were successful, could you please supply more detail on your Asus Transformer? I see there are many configurations on Amazon, Ram? Hard Drive? operating system? etc. Any other helpful details would be appreciated. I'm looking for small, easy to use system for the racecar.denfireguy wrote:I am using an Asus Transformer running windows 10.
