V3.1.08 On Win XP no communication

Hello

Upgraded my Tunerstudio MS to 3.1.08 from my ancient 3.1.03 and everything went downhill from there...
First I got this error msg


Then after a lot of troubleshoting, I realized that communications didnt work either. which I finally tracked down to the Java.

My theory is that my Java version is to old, but how do I fix that. Dont seem to find a installer that will work on win xp.

And why win xp? Yeah well thats my only laptop with native RS232 port and has all softwares i need for tuning (some of which dont even work in more modern os)

How do I fix that, or should i just continue running a older version?

Install the beta..

This was caused by an update to the JSSC library. The newer JSSC library supports modern things like ARM for raspberry Pi's and the apple M1 chip.
Unfortunately it seems to have dropped support for XP.

The beta TS automatically reverts back to the older library when run on XP.

So I tested the Beta, and even though it indeed worked on XP it gave me connection issues.

It disconnects randomly anywhere from 3s to 60s.
Swapping back to the V3.1.03 I get far less disconnects, even tho I still get them which I didnt before updating the software.

Or I did get them earlier, since I bought my Microsquirt as broken, but after swapping some blown out resistors and resoldering the communication chip the connection has been stable (on my workbench).
I am running the MS on a bench power supply and dont see any variation in power draw which leads me to believe that its on the communication side/computer/software the issue is.

I don't think your disconnects are related to TS. It sounds like you have a hardware problem.

Yes, I think you are right.
Strange though that the newer TS version has a bigger issue.

I am having a similar problem, no port scan runs on an old Win XP base laptop (has serial port). I tried beta v3.1.03.06 the scan does nothing.
Is there a different older beta version I should try?

I just put together a stable installer that is Windows XP compatible.
You will even be safe to take future auto updates until it goes to a newer JRE which will not be until version 4.0

I use an FTDI USB to RS323 adapter with Windows 10 and 11 and it works perfectly with my MS1.

Might open up options for a newer laptop?.

LOL.. Yes, 25 year old laptops seem strange, but it looks like there are a few people still out there. My check showed under 100 (very small percentage), but I will keep them going as long as I can.

Thank you for the effort, but this version the scan doesn't do anything also. I must have a corrupt Java library or something. Attached is the debug file.

It is erroring on Bluetooth.
You have an incompatible Bluetooth driver installed. Don't use detect. Open your project and set to to your Com Port. You click test fine.
