TS 3.2 update | "No Connection" w/ Linux (FIXED)

Post by Osna_FMXR »

I recently received an "update" popup for Tunerstudio ver 3.2. It successfully installed, but my dash states "Not Connected." I read (after the fact) of certain issues with 3.2 other platforms, but wanted to inquire if anyone has a work around for Linux operating system until 3.2 bugs are rectified. Or, if there is a previous 3.1 version available to download?

I am using a Raspberry Pi (3b+) dash w/ Linux.

There are no known comms issues with 3.2. Where/What issues have you seen?

To you have an App Debug?

It happens the same today to me with same setup, Raspberry Pi 3. On TS 3.2.8 connects with no problem, with 3.2 don't connect, and don't open Setting to try to configure, i'm clicking on Settings and nothing opens

Same here today.

Anyone have a fix? Is there a rollback including the drivers?

Update:

I installed:

https://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/beta/

TunerStudioMS_RC1_v3.1.09.00.tar.gz - Use this File to install on Linux or Non-Windows (Linux, Unix...) 59.03 MBytes

And got back to working.

I just renamed my existing TunerStudio directory and gunzip and untarred it and kept my existing startts.sh script as is...

Good luck,

Karl

3.2.00 and 3.1.09 beta are actually the exact same code and library set. 3.1.09 was just promoted.
It seems something else went wrong.

Try putting 3.2.00 in a different folder and see if it is now fixed.

I'll try it out when I get home. I have 3.2.0 backed up into a different folder name and will see if it starts.

Perhaps it's the in-app updater? I'll download the entire 3.2.0 tar.gz and extract also to see if that works as a "new" install...

Hi Phil,

Downloaded 3.2.01 and installed - does not work.

Rolled back again to 3.1.09 and works fine.

Tried renaming 3.2.01 directory and pointing to that - did not work.

Let me know if you have anything specific I can look for in some log somewhere or send me a debug build if you want.

I am having trouble with 3.2 update on Windows 10. Updated OK but can not now load my two current Projects. They are in the TS folder but will not load. The message I get asks if wish to open in an existing project or create a temporary one. The example projects will load but not mine.

That sounds like you are double-clicking on a tune file in Windows instead of opening TunerStudio and then opening a project first?

Yes, I would be interested to see your App Debug file.
What sort of laptop is it and what distro?
It works fine on all our Linux computers.

One possible thing to try...
Take the file:
[TunerStudioInstallFolder]/lib/jssc.jar

copy the file from a version that works on your PC to overwrite the file on the non-working version.

You mean as in Raspberry Pi OS? Or is it something like a Diet Pi?
What version Pi?
Is it an older image?

Yes, it is Raspberry Pi OS which is based on Debian.

Mine is a pretty old version - like 2018 era... Version:

Replacing the lib/jssc.jar with the previous version does fix the issue. 3.2.01 with the old jssc.jar works and connects to my microsquirt.

Let me know if you need me to test anything.

I've attempted to re-download an older version (Raspberry Pi OS) and modified the jssc.jar file in lib folder of the 3.2, but I've been unsuccessful in getting either to install. Admittedly, I'm not as versed with Linux and finding the right commands to execute the correct software have come up empty. If anyone has a simple command to install the updated software, I'd appreciate it.

Any reason in particular you want an old version OS? I guess it appears that is where the incompatibility is coming in. For some reason the current jssc.jar doesn't work with older OS's.

So, the current jssc.jar is version 2.9.6. The previous jssc.jar was 2.9.4. I wonder if 2.9.5 works:

I was initially suggested to revert to an older version. Then I was alerted to the jssc.jar "fix" for the 3.2. I've adjusted the /lib/jssc.jar for 3.2 folder, but nothing happened. It still shows "Not Connected."

2.9.5 does NOT work either.

As long as TS is backward compatible to 2.9.4, then we can use it. If you're taking advantage of some new feature/function in jssc 2.9.6 you may have to maintain both for a period...

If I find some extra time this weekend, I'll see if my Pi has a major OS upgrade available and try that with the new jar.

Thanks,

Agreed. It doesn't look like there were any much needed changes to 2.9.5 & 2.9.6.
So, I will revert back to 2.9.4.

There is the option of having TS swap out the library automatically. It does that now for Windows XP as the last version compatible with that is 2.8.

The trouble e here is, I don't know what it doesn't work on. I have Raspberry Pi 3, 4 &5's here and the 2.9.6 library works fine on all of them. I am only using OS's from the past 3 years though.
